Muddy LovelyMuddy Lovely: Cat Inn

Max has recently bought a whole Berkshire pig and used all of the animal with exciting dishes on our menu. The flavour was exceptional.

Muddy Lovely is a very small, small holding in West Sussex. It specialises in rare breed pigs, rearing only a handful at a time to ensure they get a lot of fuss. Throughout the year they raise Berkshires, Large Blacks, Saddlebacks and Tamworths. The pigs are free range and have a gm-free diet. They believe pampered pigs make perfect pork!

Visit their website www.muddylovely.com for more information.

High Weald Dairy: Cat Inn Pub and RestaurantHigh Weald Dairy

Is a family run dairy, based on their organic farm in Horsted Keynes, West Sussex.

Their cheese makers craft a delicious range of award winning cheeses from organic cows milk, conventional and organic sheep milk and most recently goats milk.

The organic cow milk comes from the cows based on their farm. The sheep milk is supplied by several sheep milking units, the largest milking over 700 ewes twice every day, and their goat milk comes from Kent.

The cheese is all made in their modern dairy, just 20 metres away from where the cows are milked - food yards....not miles! And they only use pasteurised milk to make their cheese.

Their cheese is suitable for vegetarians as we only use vegetable rennet. They do not use artificial ingredients or processes. They are also certified by the Soil Association and are members of the Specialist Cheese Association and A Taste of Sussex.

The cheeses are available a local delicatessans, farm shops and independent food outlets. For details of stockists or to buy our cheese online please visit their website. You can also register for their monthly newsletter which includes some of Max's delicious recipes using their cheese.

Butterbox Farm Produce: Cat Inn, West HoathleyButterbox Farm Produce

Butterbox Farm forms part of the Mason Estate, covering 380 acres of pasture and woodland. A family run business lead by Pat and John Garrett, who aim to provide quality meat from Dexter and Sussex cattle and Portland and Romney sheep.

All the animals live unstressed healthy lives. Most of the year they graze on natural pasture, and in the winter on home produced silage and hay. No artificial means are used to promote rapid growth. The animals mature naturally and slowly, giving meat its flavour.

Dexter Cattle Britain's smallest breed, originating in the mountains of South West Ireland. Their small size and hardiness makes them ideal for smallholders. They have become increasingly popular over the past 30 years due to the quality and flavour of the award winning beef they produce.

Sussex Cattle Traditional local breed. Like Dexters, they mature slowly on their diet of grass and silage, and are fed no concentrates. Consistently producing quality meat.
